Architectural heritage

Architectural heritage, concerns and potentials

Built heritage and landscape architecture, including environmental aspects related to the interaction of people and places over time, are crucial resources for collective identity, as well as a differentiating and enhancing factor that should be preserved and passed on to future generations.

Heritage conservation, enhancing and dissemination has a local, regional, national and, in specific cases, world visibility that is likely to attract a wide-ranging public due to different aspects related to its enjoyment, and to its historic, urban, architectural, ethnographic, social, industrial, technical, scientific and artistic values.

Built heritage and landscape architecture interventions should therefore bear in mind the values and expressions that contribute to conferring this heritage a unique and irreplaceable character. This should be done through an integrated multi-disciplinary approach meant to ensure the future enjoyment of monuments, groups of buildings or sites, including their interpretive and informative contexts.
